St. Mabyn based artist, Janie studied ceramics, textiles and printmaking, 'art as environment' and ‘stitch and constructed textiles’ at art college.  Talking about her inspiration and process "I like to start with a sketch and then see what ideas are generated by thinking about all the aspects of the subject. I sometimes collect objects and photographs and use those too. From sketches, I start experimenting with ideas and materials, and see where it takes me’ Alongside making her own work, Janie is an experienced teacher, and has run many workshops for adults and children. ‘We have been putting on Open Studios at the Shire Hall for the past five years and it’s always enjoyable talking to the public and putting on the exhibition. It’s a very special place for us and we are looking forward to making and showing our new work.’
